Cortez was our base camp for Mesa Verde (Visit Mesa Verde). Mesa Verde is a historic site for native Americans. First you should buy your ticket for a guided tour to Cliff Palace from the ranger at the park entrance station. Visit the museum in the vsitor center and go and see the Cliff Palace and see many other houses from the rim. You need good eyes though.
